Over The Rainbow brings the international waacking and queer dance community together at Het Depot, for a day full of expression, energy and connection. You can join in dancing or come to support and enjoy the best dancers from home and abroad. Don't miss the fantastic afterparty!

Waacking is a dance style that originated in the underground gay clubs of Los Angeles in the 1970s. The style draws inspiration from the glamorous film stars of the 1920s to 1960s, and revolves around poses, rhythm and ‘expression from oppression’ – dance as resistance against exclusion.

We kick off with a workshop on ‘What is community’ by Katerina Ourda, a pioneer of the Belgian waacking scene. This is followed by an inspiring Q&A panel with international judges, hosts and DJs. The main program is a powerful dance battle in three categories: Waacking Beginners, Waacking Open and Queer Only All Styles featuring queer dancers from other genres like hip hop, house, vogue, locking, popping, break…
