Classical Queers
In the mood for a bit of culture, but also a hefty slice of queer history? On 15 October, Johannes Wirix-Speetjens will delve into the lives of iconic queer artists such as Freddie Mercury, Peter Tchaikovsky, and Dusty Springfield. In this Dutch lecture, Johannes sketches with stories and music how the queer experience in art has been reflected throughout the ages, and how those echoes continue to resonate in the music we hear and sing along to today.
While searching for his own identity, Johannes intertwines these historical stories with his experiences in the 21st century. Let Classical Queers inspire you in your own quest for love, self-expression, and freedom. Visit museum PARCUM on Wednesday evening.
This lecture will be conducted in Dutch.
